Bruce Trampler of Top Rank is a matchmaker and one of the most powerful men in the sport that no one knows.
Alas, there are many in boxing, professional sport, and in businesses in the West and East like that, that no one knows, but for respect for their privacy we shall leave them unnamed.
Trampler however pops up in the media on rare occasion though — boxing star Teofimo Lopez knows him well having worked with Bob Arum’s Top Rank promotional outfit for some years now.
Speaking to Doug Fisher on the Ring Magazine YouTube podcast, Lopez said:
“Bruce Trampler is a Hall of Fame matchmaker for a reason. He’ll just drop a name, and I’ll take it from there. I’ve been boxing for 22 years, and I still have so much to learn about the sport. There’s so much history—boxing dates back to the 1800s, even to ancient Greece.”
He added on ancient boxing while barbaric, still has some useful elements in fighting in 2025:
“Imagine incorporating some of those methods in training today! There’s so much that’s been forgotten, but it’s all fascinating.”
Correct.
Lopez returns to action shortly with a new coach and management team in 2025.
Boxing fans will want to see more of the killer instinct from him in the ring that got him to where he was, and is, in the first place.
