Claressa Shields at only 29-years-old made history once again by defeating Danielle Perkins in Michigan in an interesting fight.
One that started off tentative but one that Shields boxed excellently in, showing her class, dropping Perkins in the final round and winning an easy UD.
Speaking in the post-fight interview Shields said:
“Man, that girl was strong as hell. She was strong.”
She added:
“I had to cut a little bit of weight and she didn’t have to, so I knew she would be a little stronger but I knew I could get the job done. I showed I was the better puncher and the better boxer.”
She added:
“Honestly I want to fight two more times this year.”
On who next:
“Also it is on the table if Cris Cyborg or Laila Ali want to fight.”
Laila Ali is the daughter of Muhammad Ali — her coming back to women’s boxing would be a huge fight.
In America and around the world and likely would make Ali and Shields a lot of bread.
