Boxing is on its way back to the great days of the sport and one name for some still sits on top of the mountain.
In terms of who the best pound for pound boxer ever was. Many still believe it to be ‘Sugar’ Ray Robinson.
Speaking on the Ring Magazine podcast Atlas enthused:
“Well, you have Floyd Mayweather win 50, but Harry Greb went 45-0 in one year. What? In one year. That should be common knowledge. Listen, you want to go down that road? Go to Sugar Ray Robinson. I mean, Sugar Ray Robinson, how many fights and wins he had consecutively, and when he lost to Jake LaMotta, he avenged it. That was part of his greatness. The worst thing you could do with Sugar Ray Robinson was lose to him because the next time you had a problem. The bad news was if you beat him, because the next time you fought him again, you had a problem.”
Boxers don’t box as regularly as they used to in the old days but that said, that is getting better lately.
World champions need to be boxing two to three times a year at the minimum.
