The undisputed women’s heavyweight champion Claressa Shields has welcomed a call out from a rival.
Shields won the undisputed heavyweight title outright last weekend with a clear points win over Danielle Perkins in Michigan.
Now, former unified champion, Norwegian Cecelia Brækhus, called out Shields to which the latter responded on X with:
“Aww, @1LadyCecilia you are hilarious I went to 154 all the way from 168 and you still wouldn’t fight me! Years ago! Now you want me to send you out on a stretcher in your home country? Girl…. You and Tom better go play with someone else.”
No beating around the bush there.
The above is a great fight for both if it can be made, Tom above referring to Brækhus’ manager Tom Loeffler, whom can surely make it happen.
As if no Laila Ali or Cyborg fights, this is the next big one, outside of Katie Taylor or Amanda Serrano but they would need to move up in a lot of weight to fight Shields.
Ali is much older now and has been retired for some time so likely that won’t happen.
