One of the sport’s all-time greatest heavyweights ever has paid his respects after a tragic accident.
Recently a young professional boxer John Cooney from the country of Ireland suffered a serious brain injury after his last fight in Belfast, Ireland.
It has now been confirmed that Rooney is dead and Lennox Lewis said on Facebook:
“The boxing fraternity has lost another warrior. My deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of John Cooney, who passed away after suffering brain injuries during a defense of his Celtic super featherweight title last week.
It’s a stark reminder that you don’t play boxing. Those brave enough to step into the ring always know what could happen, yet we do it anyways.
