15 Round Championship Fights Being Considered To Be Brought Back

15 Round Championship Fights Being Considered To Be Brought Back

Back in the day world title fights went fifteen rounds and there is movement towards maybe bringing this back.

Nowadays it is 12 rounds for a world title fight over three minutes in men’s professional boxing at the top level of the sport.

Ring Magazine on X have said the WBA have said:

“WBA president Gilberto Mendoza has said they could consider trialling the return of 15-round fights for “certain high calibre” contests after Teofimo Lopez told The Ring he believes undisputed fights should be 15 rounds.”

Interesting stuff.

Certainly as the sport continues to grow worldwide many boxing fans may welcome this move if it medically advisable and safe to do so by the appropriate medical surgeons and so on.
