Dmitry Bivol is maybe one of the most focused but cool customers in the game when it comes to professional boxing.
Certainly when it comes to the highest level of the sport.
Speaking ahead of the fight this weekend Bivol mentioned to Queensberry of his calm demeanour and mentality:
“I don’t know, maybe because I’m Asian, to be honest. I don’t know. I’m just my character like this. I think people love this. I’ve seen, like from our interview before, a lot of clips have gone around of you talking about emotions are the spices of life, but I try and keep myself very cool, yeah. At some points, of course, in some positions, some situations, it should be like this. Yeah, I don’t like when I do some emotional move and then I say, ‘I did it because of emotions.’ It’s not nice, of course. Sometimes we do something with emotion, showing love or something caring, yeah, but boxing is not that field where you should use your emotions.”
A wise mentality in his professional boxing career and surely for life too.
Obviously the fire is turned on come fight night in the ring and the same will be for his opponent Artur Beterbiev on Saturday, similar personalities maybe, the two boxers in the main event this weekend.
