Winning is the focus for most professional sportsmen at the highest level but boxer Dmitry Bivol takes a different approach.
He lost his first fight on a close points loss to Artur Beterbiev last time out.
Dmitry Bivol speaking to DAZN ahead of the Beterbiev rematch this weekend said of the last fight:
“I don’t think about win or lose. I really think about, I didn’t like my performance. I didn’t do enough. I wasn’t, I could do more. I know it. I could be a 100% winner, you know, not like he won or lose. I don’t need this, you know, win, lose, he won or that one won. With this, it’s not what I want to feel inside of me.”
Interesting that it isn’t the win or the loss that he was actually looking at, he is more interesting in critically evaluating his own performance against his own high standards whereby he knows he could have fought better.
Always looking for improvements, Bivol, a great fighter, but he’s up against another great fighter this weekend in Beterbiev.
