Carl Froch has given his take on the big fight tonight between Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol.
The rematch will see the pair contest the undisputed light-heavyweight championship again after Beterbiev edged the first bout on points last year.
Speaking on his now booming podcast Froch duly noted:
“Finally, the main event: Beterbiev vs. Bivol.
We kind of know what we’re going to get with Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol—both top-class, elite-level fighters, both phenomenal.
When you talk about the best of the best, these guys are the ultimate.
Don’t forget Bivol beat Canelo Alvarez in a bit of an upset.
I picked him to win because I’d seen him fight a few times, studied him, and thought he’s a big, strong light heavyweight.
Canelo’s not a natural light heavyweight, even though he’s fought up there—he beat Kovalev, but Kovalev was about done.
I think super middleweight is where Canelo’s at his best.
Anyway, the Beterbiev-Bivol rematch—I think it’s going to be much of the same. It’s gone under the radar a little bit.”
He added:
“I feel like no one’s really talking about Beterbiev-Bivol, maybe because we know what we’re going to get.
It’s going to be very much the same—a close fight between two top-level fighters, and it could still go either way.”
Certainly those in the sport appear to agree with much of Froch’s analysis.
In that most tend to think it will be a close fight once again.
Not many realize that Beterbiev was carrying a slight injury in the first fight though.
By all accounts he is near one hundred per cent healthy tonight.
Combine that with the fact Bivol will improved, too, and you have one heck of a scrap later on.
