Artur Beterbiev’s trainer John Scully gives his reaction to the first loss of his fighter’s pro boxing career against Dmitry Bivol.
Losing the rematch at the weekend just gone by majority points decision.
Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans after the loss he said:
“We felt like we needed to start a little quicker this time because last time we had a great finish, but a lot of people thought it wasn’t enough. So we wanted to start a little quicker, and I thought, especially in the first half of the fight, it was working very, very well. At one point—maybe the seventh round, give or take—I thought Artur took a round off, and Dmitry got back in. I think his confidence went up at that point, and the fight kind of changed for several rounds.”
Interesting he noted later that every time a rematch happens both fighters have to anticipate one another improving from the first fight.
A point sometimes lost on boxing fans.
Ultimately a part three is proper order.
