Gervonta Davis Full Reaction To Draw With Lamont Roach

Gervonta Davis Full Reaction To Draw With Lamont Roach

The fight didn’t go according to plan for ‘Tank’ Davis this weekend in what was a better fight than many expected.

Roach as we said before hand was dangerous and a majority draw result reflected that in the outcome of the contest.

Speaking a short time ago after the fight at the post-fight press conference ‘Tank’ said the following:

“Thank you all for waiting. It was a good night—a good night for the sport. I didn’t get the decision I wanted, but we didn’t take a loss either, so I feel like I won, especially in the last couple of rounds. It’s cool. Lamont is a great fighter. Hopefully, I can get that rematch because I know what I can do in the fight, but it’s all good.”

On the draw score:

“Nobody likes a draw, you know, especially for a guy who gets knockouts and stuff like that. But it’s cool. I feel like if we fight again, I could do more. I should’ve done more. I got lost in the rounds—I lost track. That’s why we need, uh, what is it—communication? Yeah, man, I didn’t know what round it was. Facts.”

On improving moving forward:

“Yeah, it just adds fuel to the fire, you know? But it’s cool—the draw’s okay. It’s all right. You live and you learn. I definitely could’ve done more—that was on me, for sure. I didn’t pick it up when I was supposed to, and I could’ve definitely done more.”

On getting caught with some good punches:

“He caught me with a good shot, but there were times I sat in there with him, and I was like, ‘Damn, this guy’s super slow.’ Well, not super slow, but slow. I could’ve taken advantage of those moments, but I think I was boxing too much in the beginning. By the time I felt he was slow, it was already too late. I should’ve pressed the issue.”

On some of the mid fight trash talking he added:

“Just trash-talking a little, you know? We didn’t get too crazy, but it’s a fight, man. He’s from near my neighborhood and all that. Hats off to him—it was a great fight while it lasted. Hopefully, we get the rematch—for sure, it’d be a better outcome.”

He concluded:

“I just appreciate everybody who came out tonight—the good, the bad, the ugly. I definitely appreciate everyone who took the time out and showed support, you know? I’m nothing without—I don’t want to just say ‘fans,’ but the supporters and all that. See you all soon—I’ll be back.”

A more level-headed sensible ‘Tank’ Davis is emerging.

You get the sense he will have the eye of the tiger a bit more in his next fight.

Whomever it is against.

Credit to both boxers tonight on a good fight.
