Keith Thurman is a big name still in boxing after all these years as he readies for his comeback this weekend.
He went all the way to Australia this week to face Brock Jarvis.
Speaking to a group of reporters including Fight Hype at the media workouts in Australia Thurman told fans:
“I’ve been in the ring with the best of the best, from the amateurs to the pros. I was almost an Olympian for the 2008 China Games—I lost in the USA Olympic trials to Demetrius Andrade in the finals, who went on to become a world champion. I became a two-time world champion. I grew up with the likes of Shawn Porter, Terence Crawford—all the champions you know about. Deontay Wilder was part of my Olympic year. I’m really proud of the journey I’ve had, from a young, aspiring amateur to a truly elite professional fighter. Even going back to my amateur days with peers like Danny Jacobs and all those great fighters in D.C.—Gary Russell Jr., for example—I come from a long lineage of great fighters from a great generation, and I’m going to continue to represent my generation the best I can every time I step into the ring.”
That was his reply when asked how he matches up with Jarvis this weekend in Sydney.
Clearly Thurman has no fear at all — as fear is not a motivator for people like him — passion for the game is — prize fighting.
Thurman enjoys training and knocking people out.
That’s his job.
He’s a good boxer too though and time will tell this weekend what he wants to do in the sport.
