In some surprising and unexpected news one of the sport’s leading promoters is now coming down the stretch of his career.
It would appear to be that way for now at least — but anything can change in boxing.
Boxing Kingdom on X note Hearn believes he is close to retiring from boxing.
Hearn was the first promoter in Europe to get major stadium shows larger than the Klitschko brother’s going again to audiences of more than 80,000 and more in the post world war II era.
Hearn also helped bring large streaming companies like DAZN to boxing and produced a large number of world champions.
It remains to be seen if Hearn will retire from everything, likely just boxing.
Hearn started off in the sport of golf many years ago not really known to the public nor something he mentions frequently.
With golf and other professional sports also set to come into a boom time in the East, and in the West, in the years ahead, you never know what new opportunities maybe available to both Hearn and the Matchroom group.
While he’s still in boxing hopefully he continues to look to put on the best fights possible worldwide in an exciting time for boxing ahead.
