Mexico’s big weekend holiday is always a treat every May in boxing but this year is an extra bit special.
It really is though, it is beyond very good — it maybe the pinnacle of Cinco De Mayo boxing weekend’s in the history of the entire sport.
Let this sink in:
- May 2nd on the Friday: Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero, Devin Haney vs Jose Ramirez, and Teofimo Lopez vs Arnold Barboza Jr.
- May 3rd on the Saturday: Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull.
- May 4th on the Sunday: Naoya Inoue vs Ramon Cardenas.
That doesn’t even include the full undercard details yet either for the later two shows that weekend.
Pretty good, right?
Yes.
That’s right.
Not only Canelo as the main man this year in Mexico, there is more per the above.
Boxing is flying but it is only getting started in what will be a very, very special time for the sport in 2025 and beyond.
