Not only is Lamont Roach now a big name in boxing since the draw with Gervonta Davis he has won many new fans.
Primarily for his fight style being entertaining and the great fight he recently had with ‘Tank’.
What’s more, his attitude in the New York Commission not overturning the draw result following controversy in a no knockdown ruled in round 9, has won further plaudits per this on X:
“I’m not surprised about the decision by the NYSAC. A lil disappointed, yea. Especially when they ACKNOWLEDGED the fact that Steve made the wrong calls in the 9th round. But I wasn’t banking on the overturn. Everyone know I won the fight and I’m satisfied with that. Part 2 otw”
He might not have got the result recently but he was the winner in a lot of boxing fans’ eyes.
The rematch awaits and he will have his chance again of course.
Gervonta Davis will be looking to put things right too, both boxers will have learned a lot from the first fight.
We’d expect Davis to be a little more aggressive in the rematch maybe.
