Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are the son of boxing legends in UK, European and world boxing.
Nigel Benn has been featuring in the build up to the above’s big fight next month but not the case for Chris Eubank senior, who has a rift between him and his son stemming from different things including the death in recent years of Eubank’s son and Eubank Jr’s brother — Sebastian Eubank.
Speaking to Pierce Morgan Eubank Jr said:
“Mental health is a real thing. That incident (brother dying) coupled with the fact we were already not seeing eye to eye destroyed a large part of the relationship and it just seemed to not have recovered. Of course, of course (I’ve reached out). No he hasn’t (rebuffed that). He needs to be able to get over whatever demons he is fighting. Now this fight, it’s either going to enable him to get over those demons or unfortunately its going to make those demons grow. I don’t know. I still hope he is there on the night just like his old man will be. I honestly don’t know. I hope and pray that he is and I will do things to try to get him but if he isn’t guess what I’m still going to go out there and do the job.”
It would obviously be good for the Eubank family first and foremost to see a reunion of the above and for boxing fans, the build-up to the fight will only be even bigger.
An already tremendous build-up so far it must be said.
Chris Eubank senior was one of the greatest entertainers in his day and a great showman, and a good man, as is Nigel Benn.
Maybe he will roll back the years one last time for the sport of boxing with this fight in the weeks ahead if he goes to the fight and maybe features at some point in the build-up to what is going to be one hell of a fight.
Really, a magnificent scrap awaits in a great clash of styles between two very, very aggressive fighters — who never back down and always move forward.
Two chips off the old blocks – Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank were the same.
Their two sons fight on Saturday April 26th 2025 next month.
Roll on.
