Rene Santiago Wins The WBO Light-Flyweight World Title

Rene Santiago Wins The Wbo Light-Flyweight World Title

A short time ago Rene Santiago became the WBO light-flyweight champion of the world.

Doing so in impressive fashion no less by upsetting Shokichi Iwata of Japan on points to take the title.

Iwata applied a lot of pressure in the fight but did get caught with some rather big right hands.

The referee after the fight at one point raised the wrong hand at first for Iwata as the winner but this was quickly corrected.

The fight took place in Japan in another big title fight in the smaller weights in the country — and big for boxing in Asia again too.

32-year-old Puerto Rican Santiago is now onto big things soon no doubt.

Kudos to both boxers today.
