Some very unexpected but rather welcome news it would appear has come for boxing fans on this.
Most thought Joseph Parker after beating Martin Bakole quickly by knockout would be fighting IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois again right away — after the two’s fight was called off recently due to illness to Dubois.
Not necessarily the case, however, as the WBO have ordered undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk to take on Joseph Parker next up (a former WBO heavyweight champion himself).
Tyson Fury the former heavyweight champion knows both well having fought and lost two close fights with Usyk in recent times — and being good friends and training partners with Parker.
Fury said of the Usyk vs Parker news on Instagram:

Obviously he’ll want his buddy Parker to get vengeance for him against Usyk, only normal of course.
Parker is on fire at the moment with the big knockout of Bakole recently and is really coming along in his career later in his career, in a great place mentally and hitting much harder than ever.
Working hand and hand with former world champion Andy Lee is paying off tenfold so Usyk will need to be prepared for this — if the fight gets made official soon and the two teams come to an agreement.
