Undisputed light-heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol gave his thoughts on the super fight.
Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford will happen only if Alvarez can beat William Scull in May.
Speaking on the Ring Magazine podcast not many picked up on Bivol talking on the fight:
“Yeah, from how I’ve seen him, his mentality is strong. He’s strong mentally, and he could win this fight from the core—that’s how I see it. That gives him credit. With this mentality, and to handle the power at 168—yeah, we can’t say it’s just mentality or just sparring partners to get used to this weight. It’s a combination of everything. He needs to spar with bigger guys, he needs to take punches, he needs to be confident that he’s okay with those punches. He needs to be confident that he’ll go into the ring, take punches from Canelo, and still be okay with it—just like that.”
Bivol knows Canelo well of course having beaten him previously when the pair fought.
Bivol recently beat Artur Beterbiev in their rematch and may, quite likely, fight Beterbiev in a third fight next although that is not certain — he may in fact face David Benavidez as well.
