When George Foreman came back to become oldest heavyweight champion in history it shocked the world.
So has his death this weekend.
The man he knocked out who was his junior that night was Michael Moorer. Speaking to BoxNation Moorer said of the sad news:
“He’ll probably be remembered in two parts—the second part, after he beat me and leading up to that fight. I think there were two parts to him. I didn’t follow the first part, but I was a part of the second part, so I think that’s what people are going to focus on more now. They’re going to see what he did more recently and cherish that. We lost a great fighter and a great man.”
George Foreman ultimately was larger than boxing and professional sport.
A true unique once off who will be sadly missed but not forgotten.
