The man who stops at nothing cannot be stopped is an old saying but very true.
George Foreman’s determination in life was legendary and was why he was as successful as he was. Boxing commentator and trainer Teddy Atlas pointed something out on this following Foreman’s passing.
Speaking to leading MMA broadcaster Ariel Helwani — Atlas said:
“He showed us that age is just a number. You hear that cliché all the time, but sometimes someone special comes along and gives truth to it. George won the title at 45, proving you never give up on your dreams—not because of age, not because of losses, not because of anything. If you have a dream, you pursue it, and eventually, you’ll get there. I’d add that to his long list of talents and attributes. He was a special, special man.”
With respect to Teddy, and he is right of course, but maybe Foreman was more of a goal setter than a dreamer in that he didn’t maybe always have dreams — he had goals.
They change of course at any given time and Foreman knew this in his boxing career and life — he was adaptable as well as determined.
Foreman was one of the smartest boxers that ever lived, disciplined when he needed to be but he was a big guy and always quite rightly ate well — he didn’t have to make any weight limit up at heavyweight of course.
Foreman is already badly missed but will not be forgotten.
