Manny Steward is considered one of the best boxing trainers in history and specialized in heavyweights.
Former world champion and commentator and analyst Tim Bradley spoke on something interesting from him recently on heavyweights.
Speaking to Fight Hype Bradley said:
“One thing I learned from the great Emanuel Steward is that you judge a heavyweight by how big their heart is. In the heavyweight division it takes one punch. And it’s over. Emanuel always said that.”
He added:
“To take those punches, you’ve got to have a big heart. If you don’t, you won’t survive. I feel like Big Bang’s like ‘I’m strong, I’m big, I’ll knock you out,’ but he gets brittle when he tires out.”
Good points.
Heavyweight boxing is totally different to any other type of boxing.
They hit different and at some point all heavyweights have to be able to come back from damage to inflict more damage on their opponent.
That is the reality of the fight game and hurt business of professional heavyweight boxing — the ultimate division.
As boxing continues to comeback around the world the glamor division of boxing will flourish again with large, proper platforms.
