Bitter Eddie Hearn Suggests Oleksandr Usyk Retire

Promoter Eddie Hearn has imploded a little with this as regards speaking on the undisputed heavyweight champion Usyk.

Hearn probably still isn’t happy that Usyk not only beat his fighter Anthony Joshua twice but basically battered his way through the entire UK and can pick and choose his opponents now that are not necessarily promoted by Hearn.

Boxing Kingdom on X notes earlier that Hearn said:

“Now is the perfect time for Oleksandr Usyk to retire”

With respect, what is Hearn on about here.

Usyk isn’t even in his prime yet and is coming into his prime now if anything.

These days many of the top tier heavyweight fighters come into their primes in their mid to late thirties (even Lennox Lewis did back in the day) due to the advances in nutrition and sports science.

So why would he retire.

Okay for legacy, fine, understood.

But there’s plenty of fights there to be fought.

What’s more, he is enjoying boxing and being a professional sportsman so why retire now.

Silly Hearn.
