Terence Crawford speaks on what the Ultimate Fighting Championship does well and maybe what boxing can learn from.
Boxing is growing as a sport worldwide at the moment which is very clear now but there’s always room for improvement.
Speaking on the Pound 4 Pound Podcast Crawford said:
“One thing the UFC does well is putting on the best fights at the right time. Another thing I love about the UFC is that a fighter can lose and still be respected. Floyd set the bar high with his undefeated record, and now everyone is trying to protect their ‘0.’ You take one loss, and suddenly you’re pushed way to the back of the line. The fans and the media treat you like you’re done.”
He added:
“Back in the day, fighters used to face each other multiple times. If you lost, you’d get a rematch. They had trilogies. You don’t see that anymore.”
Crawford is considered one of the best boxers pound for pound of the last twenty years or so.
He is currently getting ready for an expected huge fight with Canelo Alvarez next up.
