Mikaela Mayer got the win this weekend in Las Vegas over rival Sandy Ryan and big things are ahead for Mayer.
Whether it is a rematch against Alycia Baumgardner, Lauren Price or even Claressa Shields remains to be seen.
Speaking after the fight to Fight Hub Mayer said:
“No I’m definitely going to finish what I started at 147. Lauren Price is the obvious next opponent and I’ve been chasing Undisputed for years. That was my original goal at lightweight and now I have another chance to achieve it.”
She added:
“So I see us having that conversation with Lauren Price’s team soon. Moving up to 154 can wait. Claressa is still at a higher weight. So she needs time to come down. But 147 is my priority.”
Shields is currently undisputed women’s heavyweight champion so maybe not likely next up just yet.
Who knows though.
If they can put together the right dates and offers let’s see what happens.
