Former undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion Evander Holyfield opens up on his secret to success.
It is a simple one as it turns out — but the most important.
Speaking on Instagram Holyfield said:
“If I could talk to my younger self, I’d tell him this: Keep listening to Mama, keep putting God first, and never stop believing…even when it looks impossible. We didn’t have much, but we had faith, discipline, and heart. That was enough. I may not have had all the tools back then, but I had belief…and that belief carried me through every round, every setback, every victory. Looking back… I did alright for a kid fromnothing. #Philippians 4:13#TheRealDeal#FaithFirst#BelieveInYourself#FromNothingToChampion#HolyfieldLegacy#EvanderHolyfield”
Holyfield is one of the greatest boxers that lived. No question.
A warrior in every sense of the word.
Although he did use the head and head butts a little too much in some fights for some people’s liking.
That said, he made fights brawls often times and that was his style of fighting.
He wore people down, TKO’d them, boxed better, hustled better, thought faster, adapted mid fight better and simply fought better than many of his opponents.
That’s who he was and who he is.
