UK heavyweight Joe Joyce fights tonight but it could have so nearly being against American Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller as it happens.
But not to be though.
Speaking earlier to BoxNation Miller said the fight was brought to him but not on his terms:
“Yeah we were talking about the Joyce fight before. But like I told you Frank likes to call me last minute. They called me about the Joyce fight. I think it was like four weeks’ notice and I’m like, ‘No, I’m not doing that.’ They offered it to me after. Who’s Joyce fighting? Dillian Whyte? They offered me Joyce and I said ‘No I’m not doing it. It’s too late and to go to the UK for that kind of money? No.’”
He added:
“I’m good. I have better offers coming. I’m focused on certain things I’ve got going on. Then they offered me another fight in New York, in my hometown and I was talking about it with my manager Spence. There were some things about it he didn’t like and he wanted to move toward a bigger fight.”
Miller has had his issues in boxing in recent years but it will be interesting to see how he gets on moving forward.
He takes on Fabio Wardley of the UK next up on June 7th this summer.
