Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman is in exceptional mindset and mentality this week ahead of his comeback.
He is speaking very sharply and putting it together for Australian media in maybe some of the best interviews from a prize fighter anywhere of 2025 so far.
Speaking to Fox Australia Thurman enthused:
“I mean, the major threat is the injuries and the layoffs, right? This is one of those things where I like to call it the “opening act,” you know? You haven’t seen Keith Thurman in three years, and, luckily for me, I’ve been getting a lot of bad talk. But there’s something missing in boxing, an element I’ve always brought to the sport—whether it’s my footwork, hand speed, my ability to banter back and forth with my opponents, or sit here, commentate, break down analysis, and give great interviews. The fans miss Keith “One Time” Thurman, and I’m happy to be back.”
He went on:
“Brock Jarvis is what was brought to me. I got to fly over here, and ever since I was a kid, one of the things I’ve loved about boxing was traveling. Raised by my single mother, we didn’t go on many vacations. She worked a basic 9-to-5 back in the States. So being able to travel for boxing tournaments, like to Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach, was like a little holiday for a 9- or 10-year-old boy. As I started competing in regional and national tournaments, I traveled out of state, and as I got to bigger stages in boxing, not only did it become more exciting, but I got to see more of the world at a young age. Boxing brought that into my life, and now, once again, I’m traveling the world doing what I love, meeting fans and reporters like you. Every time I have these moments, I feel joy inside because I’m still doing what I love.”
A real insight into the mind of a legit world champion.
A two-time one of course.
Mike Tyson once said a happy fighter is a dangerous fighter — Thurman comes across as in a great place this week.
Brock Jarvis will want to smash his face to pieces of course to rearrange that good spirit in Thurman but it appears Thurman has really sacrificed in the gym too.
Florida man Thurman appears to want this and he’ll have to be at his best this Wednesday in this week’s big fight in Australia.
