So many former champions and current champions continue to awash the internet with respect for George Foreman.
Alas, a mark of the great man that he was and always will be.
Former world champion Barry McGuigan said to Sky News:
“I don’t think we’ll ever see someone at 45 coming back and knocking out the unbeaten puncher Michael Moorer, just flattening him. I remember listening to the commentators—they were absolutely flabbergasted. They didn’t know what to say. They were saying, ‘He’s not doing it that way,’ and suddenly he pulls out that right hand and folds Michael Moorer up like a cardboard box. He was really something special. But it was his personality too—just like Muhammad Ali—outside the ring, a lovely human being.”
So well said there by McGuigan.
Just a class act all round Foreman, someone who brought the sport to new levels in many ways — and still is this weekend.
He will be badly, badly missed by some but not forgotten.
Good fighter Foreman.
