Not many people know that Texan George Foreman did spend a bit of time in New York during his boxing career.
People know he sparred with Sonny Liston and the two were close but not many really touch on the fact that the man from Texas had some New York roots in boxing.
Speaking to the owner of Gleason Boxing Gym, Fox 5 New York spoke with Bruce Silverglade who said:
“When he was in the gym training, he would take pictures with people, sign autographs for them. You know, he’s a typical boxer, which in my mind is really a typical nice guy.”
Very good.
Foreman was a class act but a very good fighter.
No doubt about it.
It is little wonder fighters in particular have so much praise for him.
