UFC President turned part-time boxing promoter Dana White let loose on Oscar De La Hoya in tirade against former champion.
Dana White and De La Hoya used to be cordial but after De La Hoya took shots at the Mayweather vs McGregor boxing event a few years and De La Hoya tried to go into the MMA promotions business saying White didn’t pay fighters properly, things changed.
This week White has been on the attack again.
White said to Club Shay Shay podcast:
“Oscar De La Hoya is a two-faced, lying nut job. Yeah. Me and Oscar are never going to be cool again. Never. Never, ever. Look at anybody who’s ever dealt with Oscar De La Hoya. I don’t know if that guy has anybody who’s he’s real friend.”
White currently promotes Ireland’s Callum Smith on his UFC Fight Pass platform occasionally.
It is thought this could lead White further into boxing as time goes on if the right opportunities present themselves.
White was involved in the Mayweather vs McGregor boxing bonanza a few years ago.
An event that set all pay per view records in the sport.
If Conor McGregor were to venture into the world of professional boxing again likely White could once more get involved in things promotionally.
De La Hoya currently promotes Golden Boy Promotions who’s biggest star is Ryan Garcia.
Garcia potentially faces time out of the sport however if he gets a suspension from the NY Athletic Commission in due course following his failed post fight doping test to Devin Haney.
That would leave Golden Boy with a massive hole to fill.
Not least after losing boxing star Canelo Alvarez in recent years also.
Alvarez like many fighters who reach a certain level in the sport went out on his own as one of the biggest pay per view attractions in boxing at this time.
