Sergey Kovalev Trainer Responds To Golovkin Sparring KO Story

Sergey Kovalev trainer neither confirms or denies the rumour, but what he says below (and doesn’t say) does tend to let you believe something definitely happened.

Gym stories are always going to be a part of boxing, they have been for as long as I can remember and are always meant to be taken with a pinch of salt.

But when they involve two of the world’s pound for pound best boxers, it is understandable fight fans are going to be intrigued.

Especially when it is reported that a middleweight champion knocked out a light-heavyweight champion in sparring, that’s something a boxing fan would pay to see.

The reaction of boxing fans around the world to the story was immense, to say the least.

Well it appears that the story does have validity, as John David Jackson, trainer to Sergey Kovalev, when questioned about it did not deny the story at all.

After watching his interview (below) most fans are convinced that a punch certainly landed that at least dropped Kovalev, whether or not it knocked him out as some suggested yesterday, is a totally different story all together.

Golovkin faces Kell Brook in the UK this weekend in his latest bout and Kovalev returns to the ring on November 19th against American light-heavyweight magician Andre Ward.

Anyhow, enough of our guff, here’s the interview with Kovalev’s trainer on the sparring knockout story. As always, we’ll let you decide:
